Brazil authorises nearly 2000 extra World Cup flights

Aviation authorities in Brazil have scheduled nearly 2000 extra flights during the World Cup in order to meet soaring demand. Among routes that will see the most additional flights are Buenos Aires-Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia-Sao Paulo and Fortaleza-Sao Paulo.

Three million Brazilians and 600,000 foreign fans are set to travel for the World Cup and there has been mounting concerns over the possibility of ‘abusive’ price hikes, which led authorities to suggest in October that foreign airlines could be allowed to operate domestic routes if evidence of these practices is found.

Two airlines, Azul and Avianca Brasil, have since guaranteed that their prices for one-way flights during the tournament would not rise above R$999(£260) however Brazil’s two largest airlines, TAM and Gol, have made no such guarantee as of yet. Hoteliers and consumer groups in Rio have also guaranteed not to charge more than New Year and Carnival season prices for rooms. – See more at: http://www.ecohousegroup.com/Brazil-authorises-nearly-2000-extra-World-Cup-flights.htm#sthash.RAiITY6C.dpuf

Last minute equaliser earns Alecrim draw in inaugural derby

Alecrim have earned a hard fought draw at home to ABC in the first derby of the season.  The visitors, who play three leagues above Alecrim and entered the game as strong favourites, looked set to claim victory after taking the lead in the 82nd minute.  However, just a minute from time debutant Felipe hit home to earn a point for Alecrim.

Speaking after the match, Felipe said: “Our team played well.  We knew how to use the wings and are growing all the time.  To debut with a goal is always good, right?  I had the luck to be in the right place at the right time and just took the shot.  Now we have to come back and work hard because Sunday will be another important and difficult match and we need to get the three points.”

Sunday’s match will see Alecrim will take on Palmeira de Goianinha in their third match of the Potiguar State Championship first round.  The EcoHouse-sponsored club still have an excellent chance of qualification, with three of four teams in the group progressing to the second round.  Interestingly, of the four games played so far in Alecrim’s group, all have finished 1-1, leaving all four teams level on two points, two goals scored and two goals conceded.
